“God is One, and we are His body”

Short Reflection  Julia Kim of Naju, Korea

Praise be to Jesus! Praise be to the Blessed Mother!

Dear all, from now on, let us not envy others or be jealous of others. There are so many cases like that. None of you here do that, right? (Amen!) Amen!

It’s not a matter about who is superior or inferior, but we are given talents that are right for us. No matter how incapable a person is, they have their own talent. So, no one should be condemned. But many people condemn others. We should not say like this, “I’m good at this, but why can’t you!” Meditate on this always.

God is One, and we are His body. Right? We have one head and various body parts. We have two eyes, right? Dear all, is there anyone with one eye among you? We have two nostrils. We have one mouth. We all have two eyes and eyebrows, but with different shapes. We all have teeth, but with different shapes, right? We all have tongues.

We all have these body parts, including ears. Then, eyes should not say to ears, “Ears, I can see the whole world, but you can hear only, right? So, you are inferior to me!” No matter how much we see the world, it will be a problem if we can’t hear with our ears, right?

Although there may be more important people and less important people, they are all precious. Without ears, how can we hear? (Yes) The nose smells well, but it should not say to the eyes, "I smell well, but you can’t smell, right?” This is wrong.

Eyes are valuable for its function, and so with our nose, mouth and ears. But there are many of those working out of sight. Please think about hearts. Our heart is hidden from our view. It never boasts. Though it’s externally invisible, the heart does such important work in our body.

When the heart stops, what happens? (The person dies.) Yes, the person dies. When we die, our eyes become useless, and so do our ears. So do our nose, mouth, feet and hands. That’s why all our body parts are precious.

Suppose that our hands ask, “Damn it, dirty foot! You are stepping on the dirty ground only! I touch only good things with my hands!” Then our foot says, “Don’t say that! Without me, you cannot go anywhere.” “Then I can crawl!” How hard would it be if you crawl! So, we are all precious. Each part is truly precious. So, we should feel that all are precious to us.

Because we don’t feel, we cannot love each other. Since each of us compose God’s body with different parts, each part cannot be the same. Therefore, do not think like this, “I am superior to you,” or “I am inferior to you.” Have a dignity!

If you think, “I am irredeemable with that,” whom are you giving joy to? (Devil!) Oh, you know very well! Yes, how much the devil will be happy with you! “I cannot do anymore! The Lord must have given up on me. So must the Blessed Mother!” This saying is what the devil really likes so much. “It's impossible. I cannot do anything.”

If you say this, the devil will really favor it, and dance saying, “Yes, yes, you are doing so good! Keep going on, go ahead!” But even though you cannot do it well, with hope, confess, “Yes, I can do it!”

Even though we fell down this time, we should rise up like a roly-poly toy and do it again with a dignity of confidence saying “I can do it!” No matter how difficult and hard, if we completely entrust ourselves to Jesus and the Blessed Mother, we can be holy. We must never brag about our holiness. We can be holy when we go toward the Lord and Blessed Mother by fully offering up everything to Them.

Dear all, I sometimes hear people say, “I am not a saint. I’m not such a holy person.” I hear stories like this from time to time. “I’m not a saint, but why are you talking to me like that? Don’t expect that from me!” Avoid such thinking. Even the saints were imperfect. All of them had weaknesses. They were not good at everything.

Even the wonderful saints also made mistakes and there are many parts about them which were not recorded in books. But with their will, love and heroic loyalty to move forward solely to the Lord and Blessed Mother, they proceeded! So, if we practice the Five Spiritualities, we can become saints!

Never be disappointed. Despite our unworthiness, confess with hope, “Yes, I can do it!” Even though we fell down this time, rise up like a roly-poly toy and take the challenge again with dignity and say “I can do it!”

Let us all make a new start! Amen!
